Objectives

Practice in asking and answering simple questions in Russian.

Materials

Information role cards.

1 Divide the class into pairs and give each learner a different card from their partner.

2 Explain that each will interview the other and that they should reply to questions using the information on their card. Remind them to use the different forms needed for interviewing men and women.

3 They take it in turn to interview each other using the following questions:

4 Pairs can then either exchange cards with another pair or work with a different partner to repeat the activity.

Objectives

Reading / recognizing names of countries in Russian and practising saying nationality.

Materials

Set of cards.
Nationality forms.

Preparation

Photcopy enough cards and forms to allow one per learner.

1 Give everyone a copy of the nationality form and a card with a name and a country on it. Ask them to assume that this is their own name and country.

2 Explain that their aim is to complete the form with the nationalities of the all members of the class.

3 Ask everyone in turn to introduce him/herself to the whole class in Russian, giving their name and nationality according to the information on the card. From the information given, they can then complete the form in English.

Completed forms could be retained as portfolio evidence of competence for assessment purposes.

Divide a class of more than 10 into groups. It may be appropriate / necessary to extend vocabulary by supplying new nationalities and to teach e.g. ruk.gif (248 bytes)
